In addition to his technical and architectural strengths Mr. Rahder has extensive experience in project management and methodology. He knows how to structure a dynamic and productive team, and has the technical expertise to make sure a design is practical and sound. These skills can be used to guide projects toward having a productive team producing well-crafted results.
Project Management & Methodology
Mr. Rahder has been team leader and project manager, covering many aspects of work on numerous projects, including:
- Application architect
- System Test Planning team leader
- Technical Team leader
- Conversion team leader
These projects, which had teams of up to 100 developers and several thousand modules, required formal management techniques, including developing project plans, tracking progress against plan and following development methodolgies.
Mr. Rahder has studied and written development methodologies. This experience includes:
- Participated in an internal audit of project “best practices” for a Big Five consulting firm
- Developed a system test planning guide for internal use by a Big Five consulting firm
- Developed a “project planning and startup” methodology targeting consulting managers for a software tools and consulting company
- Developed a development methodology based on “process patterns” for the IT shop of a manufacturing company
- Developed set of best practices and a program of on-going practice improvement for the IT shop of an insurance company
Mr. Rahder also studied team and large-group collaboration, as well as object-oriented project management practices as a graduate student at the University of Michigan.
This knowledge of development methodologies is tempered with years of project management experience. This means meeting application quality and project control objectives without getting mired in bureaucracy.
Application Architecture
“An application architecture isolates complexity and facilitates integration. Isolating complexity makes developers more productive and lowers training costs. Integration makes information easy to access, which results in less duplication of code and a more consistent user interface. These principles lead to lower development costs and better end-user satisfaction.”
Mr. Rahder is an expert object-oriented designer. He is Delphi (Object Pascal) and Java certified, has published technical articles, and conducted many seminars and training classes in architecture and object-oriented design. See recent accomplishments for more information.
